Rumba (2008)

Rumba is a charming movie, about two teachers who are passionate about each other and about dancing the rumba. Unfortunately, a car accident puts a stop to it, and they have to try to live without rumba from now on.

A very funny movie with a lot of slapstick moments. Though most of the slapstick is predictable, some are very well-timed. It is about love, tragedy, happiness and misunderstanding.

In reviews and interviews it has been compared to Tati, a famous french movie maker and actor in the burlesque genre. The main actors, Dominique Abel and Fiona Gordon, come from a theatre background in the burlesque, so their acting is very theatre like. It is their 3rd movie to date.

I invite you to check it out. It is nice and fun to have a movie that can make you laugh out loud in the movie theatre. It has been a while since I have done that.

Fab, I just saw DAN IN REAL LIFE. You have to see this film. I’m such a stupid sucker for this kind of film. The main character is so wonderfully drawn. And yes, I’ll admit it, I cried. But I promise you it’s not a depressing film. You will laugh.
